I’ve been feeling really, really depressed. I haven’t had the motivation to do much, and it’s been hard to leave the house.
One or two friends have reached out to me, my friend Ezra in particular. We’ve known each other since high school, and we go to the same college. We even had a few classes together when I was in the Elementary Education program.
Normally when I’m feeling so down, I avoid going out with friends, but earlier this week when Ezra asked me if I wanted to go to an art show with him, I accepted the invitation, and I’m so glad I did.
I started my morning by getting my weekly blood work, and then went to Clem’s Classic Cameras at the flea market. The flea market is mostly junk and CBD products, but there is a very cool camera store there that sells both film and digital accessories. I bought the lens of my dreams, a huge zoom lens for my Canon AE-1, which used to belong to my grandpa. I like to take photos of people on the beach, but with my little kit lens, I feel too visible. With the zoom lens, people can’t see me photographing them. Creepy? Maybe a little. But I mean no harm.
After I left the flea market, I went to Ezra’s house to pick him up, and we headed to the art show, which was at the Ormond library. We met two of his friends there, who were very nice, but we didn’t stay long because we were all hungry. We ended up at a grilled cheese restaurant on beachside, which was quite tasty.
Today was my first good day in quite a while. I’m so happy I got to hang out with some friends, meet new people, and see some art.
